Hello all, I've just graduated from the 3d animation and visual effects program at Vancouver Film School, and this is a model I made for my demo reel. Modeled using Softimage XSI, textured in Photoshop, and composited in After Effects and Photoshop. The model is fully rigged as I've also animated it. Polycount is over 300,000 triangles (that's before smoothing it twice). I hope you'll like it.

Don't forget to check out my demo reel. Here's the link -> [link]
(H264 codec, 7.6mb)

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Is this graphics or a model, I can't really tell.

What the hell is love anyway.
It is a 3d model. Sorry, I know the background it's not helping much. Changing it is on my to-do list.

Nice Gundam! The texture on that thing (I'm sorry, Gundam's are not things; they have feelings unless they work for the Earth Alliance) is awesome! The shine is really nice and the rust looks awesome. Shading perfect. I'll remember to watch the vid. Can you favorite?
Thanks for the favourite. I'm not sure about Gundams having feelings. They are only machines, unless they are EVAs.....lol.

Feelings or not, I will be polite around them. They are much bigger than me.

Looks great.
Have you thought about getting a membership to the cgsociety?

If you are accepted, you can put your work in an online portfolio.

Thanks, sevenofeleven. Actually, I've posted the Zeta on CGtalk already. It's probably at page 10 or later of 3D stills. Anyways, just search the forums for Gundam and it should be there.

:salute: sweet model, I use xsi also(still quite a novice tho)...its nice to see what other ppl do rather than Maya/Max/LW etc - texturing is really nice too.

Thanks, animBoi. Although I mostly use XSI, I still want to learn other packages, because I don't think we should be restricted by what software we use. It is only a tool after all. However, I do have to say that modeling in XSI is great, at least compared to Maya.

Yep, I'd agree having other 3D software knowledge is handy to have...remembering the different key shortcuts is the pain (all softwares really). I've used xsi for a few years, v.good tool...mainly on-off use therefore still in the novice area I guess.

:plotting:I should try to get back into it...get a gundam built too perhaps, they look cool.

Yeah, I saw your video. That was so cool. Gave me a better sense of how a Gundam would compare in size if it existed in my world (world 78G9) because the anime's in 2D so it's nice to see the hanger and the Gundam in 3D. The transformation scene was cool too, but it looked kind of like toy though. Oh well, it still was cool. Nice eye flashing effect in the end. I now have a better sense of how those giant mechs and move and morph into a flighter thanks to your vid. Thanks man. Now, which G is this?
